Montgomery Real Estate

Montgomery real estate really fits into two different main types: affordable older homes in the Boulder Hill subdivision and surrounding area, and brand new homes in several new subdivisions currently being built in the western portion of the community. Like Yorkville Illinois, Montgomery is currently in the grips of a large real estate boom. Several major developers have been building new homes in Montgomery for several years and continue to add on to these developments to this day. Joining them are several new subdivisions currently under construction and you have a small community with the potential for fast growth over the next decade. Montgomery, Illinois

Montgomery Illinois was started in 1832 by Jacob Carpenter who built a log cabin along the Fox River and moved his family to the area in 1833. He was joined by his father-in-law the following year and the community began to grow. In 1835 Daniel Gray moved to the area from Montgomery County, New York - which would eventually give the budding village its name.

Mr. Gray kicked off a flurry of economic developments in the new community, founding a foundry, store, grist-mill and several manufacturing facilities. For this reason, he is considered the official founder of Montgomery. Also because he was officially the first person to actually purchase land in the area from the federal government (other prior residents being considered squatters). The Village of Montgomery was incorporated in 1858 and elected Ralph Gray - Daniel Gray's son as the first village president.

In 1880, the village got a boost from the railroads - specifically the Chicago, Burlington & Quincy Railroad who built a large livestock depot in the area. Despite this and other later small boosts, the economy of Montgomery remained secure albeit small - dwarfed by the neighboring communities of Naperville and Aurora. Montgomery's current boon lies in extensive and often affordable new construction. It is experiencing a large real estate boom that has made it one of the fastest-growing communities in the United States.
